Prairie Community Fund
From fitness classes to farmer’s markets, summer camp to special events, Prairie Township Community Center is more than a place for recreation – we are a place for people to find and build community. To further that commitment, we established The Prairie Community Fund.
The Prairie Community Fund (PCF) is a fund under the umbrella of the Columbus Foundation. The Columbus Foundation is the trusted philanthropic adviser to 2500 individuals, families, and businesses who have created charitable funds and planned gifts to make a difference in the lives of others through the most effective philanthropy possible. The PCF will lead private fund raising efforts for projects that will positively impact Prairie Township and its surrounding neighbors.
The first major project the Prairie Community Fund will take on is raising money to build an artificial turf field at the Galloway Sports Complex designed specifically for children with disabilities. The accessible turf field will be one field for children with disabilities to experience the joy of recreation, camaraderie, and teamwork. This field
will allow everyone in Prairie Township and the surrounding area the opportunity be play soccer, football, and other field sports. We invite you to join us as we build the future for accessible field sports.
If you would like to donate to this project you can to the Giving Tree site to purchase a peace of the Giving Tree or you can just make a credit card donation here. Sign in, create an account, or check out as a guest with your email address so The Columbus Foundation can send a receipt.

What is a Community Foundation?
Community foundations are tax-exempt public charities serving people who have a common passion: improving the quality of life in their area. Community foundations develop funds, create donor legacies, and support the broad charitable areas of the community.
Individuals, families, businesses, and organizations can choose to create charitable funds that help their community meet the challenges of changing times. The community foundation then invests and administers these funds. All community foundations are governed by a volunteer board of leading citizens and operated daily by professionals with knowledge of community needs.
Community foundations are recognized as one of the fastest growing forms of philanthropy in the world today with over 700 in the United States alone! Why?...Because philanthropy is their only business, through which they provide the accountability, simplicity and leadership to help donors and communities address community needs and charitable goals.
Why choose a Community Foundation?
There are many reasons to invest in a local community foundation. Community foundations go beyond simply making grants that advance charitable activities. Community foundations also identify current and emerging issues, stimulate resources to address those needs, and help their region prepare for the future. They work with professional advisors and donors to provide the best vehicle for giving while providing the maximum tax advantages.
Who makes gifts to the Prairie Community Fund?
Anyone! Individuals, families, organizations and businesses interested in the future development of the greater Prairie Area may make gifts to the community foundation. Gifts are often made to memorialize a friend or family member, recognize an achievement, honor families, or encourage philanthropy within an organization.
